Father and son arrested with Indian liquor in joint forces operation in Dirai

Taufiqur Rahman Taher, Special Correspondent: A father and son have been arrested with Indian liquor in a joint forces operation in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj.
On Tuesday (April 29), the joint forces arrested them with 23 bottles of Indian liquor from the Shyamarchar Bazar area of the upazila. The arrested are Phul Mia (52) and his son Akil Hossain (19) of Shyamarchar village in Charnarchar union of the upazila.
According to police and local sources, Phul Mia and his son had been dealing drugs in the area for a long time. On Tuesday, the joint forces conducted a raid based on secret information and arrested them.
The market value of the 23 bottles of Indian liquor seized at that time was Tk 29,460, according to the police.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Dirai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdur Razzak said that a case has been registered against them under the Narcotics Act and they have been sent to jail.
